Does my child need fluoride and sealants?
At Dr. Chris Forte’s office, we recommend treatment based on need instead of assuming everyone needs the same treatments. In order to determine what treatments might benefit your child, we need to do an evaluation and look at their over all health, diet, tooth anatomy, and the quality of their home care.
Fluoride is beneficial for strengthening enamel against the acidic effects of bacteria. Having regular fluoride treatments in addition to brushing with fluoride toothpaste is one inexpensive and safe way to protect your child’s teeth against unnecessary decay. We understand that parents do not want to pay for unnecessary treatment, but a small investment in prevention can prevent more significant expenses down the line.
Sealants are especially beneficial for children and adults that have deep grooves in their molars. Sealants are a thin plastic coating that covers the deep grooves in your child’s teeth. This prevents food and bacteria from taking hold in those grooves and creating potential cavities.
Anytime you have questions about treatment for your child, we are happy to address your concerns. We want you to feel confident and informed about all treatment in our office. Just like you, we want the best care for you and your little ones.
