Cosmetic Bonding

Do you have a few flaws in your smile you want to have fixed? Do you have a gap between your teeth that makes you self-conscious? Do you have chipped teeth? Perhaps just a few changes would make you feel great about your smile, but cosmetic dentistry always seemed out of your reach.

Cosmetic dental bonding may be the perfect solution for you. This minimally invasive, affordable technique can address your aesthetic concerns while maintaining the integrity of your natural tooth.

What Is Cosmetic Dental Bonding?

Cosmetic dental bonding is a method that uses composite material (like that used in white fillings) to correct and repair dental imperfections. The benefit of cosmetic dental bonding is that minimal preparation of the tooth is necessary to create attractive results. This procedure repairs cosmetic flaws by adding to your existing tooth structure. Because of the wide range of shades available, cosmetic bonding will match your natural tooth seamlessly.

How Can Cosmetic Bonding Help?

  • Filling holes left by cavities
  • Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
  • Closing gaps between teeth
  • Making teeth look longer
  • Reshaping teeth
  • Replacing dark metal fillings
  • Protecting roots after recession (abfractions)

How Does Cosmetic Bonding Work?

You may choose to whiten your natural teeth prior to bonding. Then Dr. Forte will use a shade guide to choose the right color to match to your teeth. Once the correct shade is chosen, Dr. Forte will etch (roughen) the area of your tooth to be bonded, promoting proper adhesion. The application of a conditioning agent will prepare the tooth’s surface for the composite material. Once the composite material is applied to your tooth and shaped, an ultraviolent light is used to cure (harden) it. Then Dr. Forte will apply his artistry and expertise to refine and polish the composite to achieve the desired result.

Will Cosmetic Bonding Hurt?

A popular benefit of cosmetic bonding is that it is one of the least invasive cosmetic procedures around. Because your tooth is minimally prepped, you should feel quite comfortable. Dr. Forte has years of experience with these types of procedures, resulting in satisfied patients. You are in good hands in our office.
